Greatest cover of all time?
Sometimes I don't know where This dirty road is taking me Sometimes I don't even know the reason why But I guess I keep a-gamblin' Lots of booze and lots of ramblin' Well it's easier than just a-waitin' around to die One time, friends, I had a ma I even had a pa Well he beat her with a belt once 'cause she cried She told him to take care of me Headed down to Tennessee Well it's easier than just a-waitin' around to die Well I came of age and I found a girl in a Tuscaloosa bar She cleaned me out and hit in on the sly I tried to hide the pain, I bought some wine and hopped a train Well it's easier than just waitin' around to die A friend said he knew Where some easy money was We robbed a man, and brother did we fly The posse caught up with me And drug me back to Muskogee Two long years waitin' around to die Well, now I'm out of prison I got me a friend at last Well he don't drink or steal or cheat or lie His name's codeine He's the nicest thing I've seen Yah, together we're gonna wait around and die Yah together we're gonna wait around and die
I'm loving this album.

"Einstein on the Beach broke all the rules of opera. It was in four interconnected acts and five hours long, with no intermissions (the audience was invited to wander in and out at liberty during performances)."
In The Future by David Byrne In the future everyone will have the same haircut and the same clothes. In the future everyone will be very fat from the stachy diet. In the future everyone will be very thin from not having enough to eat. In the future it will be next to impossible to tell girls from boys, even in bed. In the future men will be 'super masculine' and women will be 'ultra-feminine'. In the future half of us will be 'mentally ill'. In the future there will be no religion or spiritualism of any sort. In the future the 'psychic arts' will be put to practical use. In the future we will not think that 'nature' is beautiful. In the future the weather will always be the same. In the future no one will fight with anyone else. In the future there will be an atomic war. In the future water will be expensive. In the future all material items will be free. In the future everyone's house will be like a little fortress. In the future everyone's house will be a total entertainment centre. In the future everyone but the wealthy will be very happy. In the future everyone but the wealthy will be very filthy. In the future everyone but the wealthy will be very heathly. In the future TV will be so good that the printed word will function as an artform only. In the future people with boring jobs will take pills to relieve the boredom. In the future that no one will live in cities. In the future there will be mini-wars going on everywhere. In the future everyone will think about love all the time. In the future political and other decisions will be based completely on opinion polls. In the future there will be machines which will produce a religious experience in the user. In the future there will be groups of wild people, living in the wilderness. In the future there will only be paper money which will be personalised. In the future there will be a classless society. In the future everyone will only get to go home once a year. In the future everyone will stay home all the time. In the future we will not have time for leisure activities. In the future we will only 'work' one day a week. In the future our bodies will be shrivelled up but our brains will be bigger. In the future there will be starving people everywhere. In the future people will live in space. In the future no one will be able to afford TV. In the future the helpless will be killed. In the future everyone will have their own style of way-out clothes In the future we will make love to anything, anytime, anywhere In the future there will be so much going on that no one will be able to keep track of it.
"In January 1981, Milwaukee police arrested her for simulating sex on stage. Also charged with battery to an officer and obscene conduct, she was later cleared. Later that same year in Cleveland, Ohio, Williams was acquitted of an obscenity charge for simulating sex on stage wearing only shaving cream (she subsequently covered her nipples with electrical tape to avoid arrest). Then, in November, an Illinois judge sentenced her to one year supervision and fined her $35 for roughing up a freelance photographer who had attempted to take her picture as she jogged along the Chicago lakefront.
Meanwhile, the Plasmatics toured the world, having a concert in London cancelled on safety grounds, where the press dubbed them "anarchists." During shooting of an appearance on NBC's SCTV comedy program in 1981, studio heads said they would not air Williams unless she changed out of a stage costume that revealed her nipples. Williams refused. The show's make-up artists found a compromise and painted her breasts black."
